Herb,

I find myself in agreement with you about the governments' misuse of the SS
trust fund. I see no sense in wasting 1s' and 0s' on the internet on a
discussion about who did what and when to put us as a country into this
mess. Rather let's explore and exchange ideas about how to fix it. Here's
one idea,
since we're 3/4 of the way toward bank nationalization lets complete the
process and allow the government to manage the mortgages of the entire
country by replacing all mortgages in a restructured manner. In this way
people who have honored their debt so far could get a break and those in
trouble can be helped. Let the US taxpayers keep all the profits since we're
the ones taking the risk now. Cut out the top management who were skimming
billions let them go find real jobs. Perhaps a flat tax rate to go along so
everybody has some "skin in the game" so to speak. Leave the investment
banking and corporate debt to the private sector and let the capitalists
happily screw each other instead of the common man. I thank you for the use
of my name in your reply and I invite all to respond as they see fit.

Sincerely,

John Shulick

John,

Do you really think the government has done better with your retirement
money than you would have done in a 401k? I doubt if there's any of the
money left that you put in. It was spent. To pay for your retirement,
they're going to have to hope that the next generation has enough to
pay, and is willing to do so. The government has turned SS into the
biggest ponzi scheme ever, we're just all to stubborn to admit it.
