I'm thinking that once they remain in the boat they are fine.  It's those who are a little jumpy, and jump out of the boat that will find themselves wet, cold and a little embarrassed.

Practice, practice and more practice. Gimbaled drink holders. One on each  
side off the stern rail. You have brought up an interesting point though. 
There  are times I find it impossible to find people that will crew for me. 
You might  be on to something there. Perhaps I should be more considerate for 
my  "passengers"????  Nope, that's not going to happen.

However you may fall into that category if you think  a 10-12 knot wind is
fair to middling.  By then I've lowered the boom  and have started to think
about reefing the main.  When you start to  reef a 100 square foot mainsail,
I'd at least call that "breezy" for our  little Rhodes.

I still can't figure out how Rummy doesn't spill his  drink when both he and
his boat are sideways.  Maybe I need more  experience.
