Congrats. A wise decision. We bought ours from Stan at his Long Island factory in Aug. of '83, instead of putting the money towards purchase of a second "vacation" home, here in the lower Adirondack region of upstate NY. We're lake-sailing the same boat tomorrow and probably will sleep on it tomorrow night for sailing next day. Depends on winds and thunderstorm threats. It's the best recreational expenditure we ever made considering the use we got out of it the past 27 years. The Rhodes is overbuilt for long lasting use. We'd suggest buying a $25 weather radio cube receiver from Radio Shack and keeping it aboard. Mountain lakes have abrupt weather changes and shifts in wind direction and velocity as we well know!!

Good Luck!

Hello, I will admit it, we have been lusting over the Rhodes 22 and have been
lurking around reading this board for weeks now. After a visit with Stan,
we have decided to rent one of Stan's boats for the weekend, hoping we love
it enough to get one of our very own. We are completely novice sailers, so
any advice you have for us regarding the boat or the Albemarle Sound would
be greatly appreciated. In the long run, we will probably be based out of
Smith Mountain Lake in VA, and this boat seems perfect for there.

  Thanks
  Eileen
