[Rhodes22-list] bumped : capsize discussion continued, masthead float?

The *initial* stability of most all keel/centerboard boats is relatively low
just because of the shorter moment arm the ballast has relative to a regular
keel boat or one of the foil/bulb designs.  However the *ultimate* stability
is substantially higher.  The Rhodes is also "cursed" in terms of initial
stability by its low wetted area compared to many boats its size.  There are
ways of quantifying initial and ultimate stability, but I haven't seen an
analysis of the Rhodes 22.
